NSB Pāta Pāta Hapankam’ Open Art Competition – 2026

The National Savings Bank (NSB) is pleased to introduce the ‘NSB Pāta Pāta Hapankam’ Open Art Competition 2026 in a refreshed and innovative format, providing schoolchildren with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and artistic talents.

The award ceremony will be held at the NSB Head Office on 03 October 2026, in conjunction with World Children’s Day, which is celebrated on 01 October.

The competition aims to strengthen NSB’s engagement with schools across the country while creating greater awareness of the importance of saving from a young age. Through this initiative, NSB seeks to foster meaningful relationships with the education sector and inspire children to develop a strong and positive culture of saving.

Conditions Applicable to the Art Competition

The competition is open to schoolchildren (both Government and International) island-wide, under the following categories.

Category 1  Grades 1, 2 and 3
Category 2  Grades 4, 5 and 6
Category 3  Grades 7, 8 and 9
Category 4  Grades 10, 11, 12 and 13
  • Theme: “Big Dreams from Small Savings
    • The participants should convey the way in which they think, see or imagine the concept of saving, by their drawing.
  • Size of the drawing: 18” × 24”
  • Medium: pastels, watercolors, oil paints or any other medium
  •  Paper type: White drawing paper with a rough surface or white Bristol board
  • Each participant may submit only one drawing for the competition.

It is not mandatory to be an account holder of the Bank to participate in the competition. However, if a participant is a Punchi Hapan, Hapan, Postal Hapan or NEO Youth Account holder, final winners may receive an additional cash reward.

The drawing of the student should be submitted together with the application, or an application prepared according to the said format. It must be duly completed, certified by the Principal or Deputy Principal of the school, stamped with the official seal, and firmly pasted at the center the back of the drawing.

The participant should then scan both sides of the drawing and ensure that it is received by the Marketing Division via e-mail patapatahapankam@gmail.com or via WhatsApp to 0724744744 on or before 10 September 2026.

The drawings received by the Marketing Division will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges. The selected drawings will be displayed at the art exhibition, held at the Head Office from 1st to 3rd October 2026, and the final winners will be announced on 3rd of October 2026.

 

NSB Pāta Pāta Hapankam Open Art Competition 2026 – Cash Award Schedule and Method of Crediting Additional Cash Awards

The cash awards for each grade category are as follows.

Place Amount
First place Rs. 50,000/-
Second place Rs. 35,000/-
Third place Rs. 25,000/-
Fourth place to tenth place Rs. 5,000/- per winner
Eleventh place to fifteenth place Rs. 2,500/- per winner

 

Students who achieve first, second and third places in each category will receive cash awards of Rs. 50,000/-, Rs. 35,000/- and Rs. 25,000/- respectively.

 

If those students have a Punchi Hapan, Hapan, Postal Hapan or NEO Youth Savings Account with the National Savings Bank, they may receive an additional cash award equivalent to the balance available in the account, as at 30th September 2026, subject to a maximum value of the relevant amount of the prize.(Example: If a participant wins the first place in any category, he or she will receive an Rs. 50,000/-. If he or she has a Punchi Hapan, Hapan, Postal Hapan or NEO Youth Savings Account, with the National Savings Bank and the account balance, as at 30th September 2026 is Rs. 12,500/-, he or she will receive an additional cash award of Rs. 12,500/-. Even if the account balance exceeds Rs. 50,000.00, the maximum amount that he/she may receive shall be limited to Rs. 50,000.00.)

Additional cash awards will be credited to the respective account holders’ accounts by the Marketing Division, on or before 10th October 2026. Medals and certificates will also be awarded for every drawing selected for the art exhibition.
